{Melbourne Wedding Photographer} Testimonial

Nadia and Philip, whose wedding will grace these blog pages shortly, sent me this note this morning:

It is always nerve-wracking to work with someone when you don’t know anything about their work - but what a treasure you turned out to be.  Thank you for the absolutely stunning photographs you took.  Philip & I are truly delighted by them.  Your photographs really captured the magic of the day. Thank you also for your patience and your hard work.  Philip and I felt very relaxed on our big day and we had a lot of fun doing the photographs with you.  We would have to describe Richard as “A guy who is doing this (photography) not because this is his career but instead, this is his passion”.”

Thank you so much. Your wedding not only introduced me to your wonderful family but also to a new location I have used again since your wedding!

Looking forward to catching up very soon.

{Melbourne Wedding Photographer} Hannah & Jarred

Photo of the day #104 - I wonder what he said? I both love and look for moments like these in every ceremony I photograph. I know what he said as the couple told me during their handover, and it was both funny and kind of sweet. But I’m not going to tell you.

Photo of the day #103 - Hannh stops for a six pack Hannah likes a nice cold one so when we had a few minutes up our sleeves, she pointed us to the Seaford Hotel, where she picked up a beverage for the journey.

The looks on the attendants face when a bride, her entourage and a photographer turned up was rather amusing.

{Melbourne Trash the Dress Photographer} Caitlin & Ben

Photo of the day #101 - Caitlin at/under Wombelano Falls - Photo by Michael Krilic Today was an interesting day. I had the honour of photographing Caitlin & Ben on their wedding day one year and one week ago. This session was planned for their first anniversary but the weather decided that was not going to happen.

So today myself, Caitlin, Ben, Adam & Tam (my usual assistants) and Michael Krilic (who took the photo above) risked life and limb to scale down and then up and then down extremely steep terrain to reach the base of Wombelano Falls.

To say we left the beaten track is an understatement. Caitlin & Ben had prepped us to believe that the hike would be “challenging”. The challenge caused one assistant to have to return to the car for the duration of the shoot (having sustained a injury in the during the descent), nearly drowned another and took all the courage and fortitude possessed by the third to get back up the gully after the session was complete. Not only was the terrain enough of a challenge, but to negotiate it whilst carrying the required equipment and wedding clothing made it all the difficult.

Was it all worth it? In the post shoot discussions we all agreed it was. Actually when we got down to the base of the falls we decided it was, knowing fully well the difficult nature of the return journey.

Overall a fun shoot with a fun couple and crew. Keep an eye out for the odd sneak peak between upcoming wedding posts.

Thank you all who came along today for your help, laughter and determination to do what needed to be done. You all made me very proud to be part of such an amazing day.

{Melbourne Wedding Photographer} Hannah & Jarred

Photo of the day #100 - The beautiful Hannah I heard/saw/read a wonderful description of what we as wedding photographers do in regards to posing. Very few brides want the “posed” look but if we photographed them “naturally” as they often ask, they would get nothing. Just capturing a moment is not as easy as it sounds when there are no special moments going on!

The term I heard (and will now use) is directed. We direct the couples to bring out the best in who they are and what they bring to the photographs. Hannah was very easy to direct and made my job easy.

This photo marks the 100th photo posted to the new blog.
